ASUS G51Vx Gaming Notebook Reviews

Mon 2009-11-09 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
I4U and TweakTown have reviewed the ASUS G51Vx, a fully featured mainstream 15" gaming notebook.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • I4U:

"The biggest issue that I have with the Asus G51VX is not one of performance. The machine has all the performance that most gamers will want. My problem is with the price. At about $2700, the machine is much more expensive than offerings from Gateway like the P-7808u that has very similar levels of performance. The high price makes the Asus G51VX hard to recommend."

  • TweakTown:

"When all the dust settled, the ASUS G51VX is a very good performer, easily hitting the top of the class compared to other notebooks I have tested. One of the machines weakest points is its battery life, which is not even an hour in my benchmarks.

The real problem I have with the G51VX is its price. At nearly $3,000 the machine simply doesn't offer the performance to justify the price when compared to the sub-$2000 Gateway P7808u. When you are talking bout a $1,000 price gap between the two machines, the Gateway P7808u stands out."

I've often commended ASUS for the Bang for the Buck of their gaming notebooks, but both reviewers are right in that Gateway's models are even better in that respect.
