Gaming Heatset Review Roundup

Wed 2009-11-18 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
BCCHardware, DriverHeaven, Futurelooks, and TweakTown have reviewed various gaming headsets from Logitech, Roccat, Tritton Technologies, and Zowie.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • BCCHardware: Zowie Gear Hammer Headset Review:

"As we’re coming to the end of this journey I'd like to say just a few words before we part; the ZOWIE GEAR Hammer headset is a great headset if everything you read was what you’re looking for. I found the headset very comfortable when wearing it compared to a pair that I had bought at Wal-Mart which weren’t so comfy after an hour or more. I wouldn’t say that they are noise canceling, but they do block out more sound from the ones I had bought and any cheap ear phones. Speaking of tuning out, it also works well when you get sick of your siblings whining at you when your volume is cranked!! For the record it’s a pretty good set for great sound!"

  • DriverHeaven: Logitech G35 Surround Sound Headset Review:

"All in all, the G35 is a well-built headset producing exceptional sound quality that definitely won't disappoint. The USB connection and inbuilt sound card mean the G35 will perform well and have compatibility with any computer.

The small issue with the microphone was enough for me to knock a point off the performance score but isn't much worse than delays I've noticed with other headsets. The rest of the headset exudes exceptional quality however so this is really only a very minor point.

The Logitech G35 is perfect for any casual or professional gamer and, even though it may be a little more expensive than other similar headsets, it's definitely worth the cost if you're serious about gaming."

  • DriverHeaven: Roccat Vire Gaming Headset Review:

"All-in-all, the ROCCAT Vire is great value solution for mobile gaming, even though the slightly disappointing build quality may disappoint some users. In my opinion, the superior sound quality of the Vire more than makes up for the disappointing build quality and the reasonable price definitely makes it worth considering for anyone looking for a decent mobile gaming headset."

  • DriverHeaven: Steelseries Siberia V2 Headset Review:

"All-in-all the Siberia V2 is a brilliant all-round headset and should be considered when looking for a decent pair of headphones for any purpose, not just gaming. Its sleek design and high quality finish combined with its superb sound quality mean I would personally recommend it to anyone.

Essentially, SteelSeries have taken an already very decent headset and reworked it concentrating on the most important factors, namely sound quality and comfort, enabling them to produce one of the most impressive gaming headsets on the market while also improving greatly on its predecessor."

  • Futurelooks: Tritton Technologies AX51 Pro Precision PC Gaming Headset Review:

"To add a little more perspective, the AX51 Pro is definitely superior to any of my treasured Altec Lansing or Razer Barracuda headsets pushing the $120 price tag. I’m sure this might seem impossible to a few ‘fan boys’, but this is just based on the best possible scenarios and action packed gaming environments. Besides, twelve other gamers would’ve done anything to get a pair during my random sampling of testers."

  • TweakTown: ZOWIE Hammer Gaming Headset:

"I feel I really have to be cruel to be kind. It’s not like every company can nail the bull’s eye with their fist arrow. But I’m afraid ZOWIE missed the whole target zone and got the little guy standing behind, minding his own business."
